Fox Corporation and the global media brand Time have partnered to use Fox’s Verify protocol to make content licensing and verification immutable.

The collaborative effort aims to ensure journalism’s authenticity and combat misinformation in the press.

Mark Howard, Time’s chief operating officer, emphasized this goal, stating:

“Time is proud to join Fox’s Verify as an authenticated source of fact-based journalism at a time when access to trusted information is more important than ever.”

    A matter of Time

Fox revealed that Time will be the first external publishing partner for the Verify protocol, working to integrate blockchain verification into journalism.

Melody Hildebrandt, chief technology officer at Fox Corporation, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating:

“In Time, we have found a partner that shares our AI-optimism as well as our commitment to protecting brand equity and authenticity while delivering our content in new and meaningful ways.”

    Verify protocol on Polygon

Verify was launched on Polygon’s proof-of-stake (PoS) network in January. It uses cryptography to sign and establish the history and origin of digital content.

The verification protocol establishes a technical bridge between artificial intelligence (AI) platforms and media companies, verifying over 300,000 pieces of content across Fox.

Speaking with Cointelegraph, Marc Boiron, CEO of Polygon Labs, said:

“Polygon Labs’ collaboration with Fox Corp on Verify exemplifies the positive impact of blockchain technology. Time, one of the world’s most respected media outlets, is an ideal first external publishing partner.”

    ZK Gelato, anyone?

Based on positive feedback, Fox stated that it would transition Verify from the Polygon PoS network to an independent zero-knowledge (ZK) blockchain using Polygon’s Chain Development Kit (CDK).

Developed with Gelato — a Rollup-as-a-Service platform — Boiron spoke enthusiastically about Fox’s shift toward ZK technology, telling Cointelegraph:

“With Gelato as the implementation provider, Verify can now become a ZK L2 chain using Polygon CDK, paving the way for exponential growth.”

The transition will make content verification more secure and open-sourced, enabling developers to create authentically provable projects.
