The Dubai Police announced that it plans to roll out the 2nd edition of its NFT collection during the Gulf Information Technology Expo (GITEX) 2022, which will be held between 10-14 October 2022. In this edition, the force will give out 150 free NFTs in a raffle draw, while about 23 million people showed interest in owning the previous edition of the NFT collection.
In a statement, Dubai Police confirmed that this forthcoming collection will feature 150 NFTs that symbolize the police force’s security, communication, and innovation values.
This move comes after, launched this March, the force’s first edition of NFT received enormous success, with 22.9 million people worldwide registering their interest to own the digital collectibles.
Dubai Police’s director of the general department of Artificial Intelligence, Brigadier Khalid Nasser Al Razooqi, said that the force has received more than 7,000 direct messages from participants through its various social media platforms.
“All participants were contacted to confirm digital wallet addresses, and those who met the requirements were shortlisted in a raffle draw, of which 150 individuals won and received the Dubai Police digital assets for free,” he added.
Al Razooqi also mentioned that this collection has garnered attention, both locally and globally, with maximum online interaction coming from people of the USA, KSA, India, Nigeria, and other parts of the UAE.
He revealed that the social media post announcing this news across platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram have crossed 589,173 views within 24 hours, with multiple shares and retweets.
Dubai Police has become the first police department in the world to create its digital assets. The force sees that this step is in line with the UAE government’s growing interest in digital assets and contributes to attracting those interested in this modern digital trend.
As reported earlier, Emirates Post Group (EPG) issued last November the first in the region NFT stamps in commemoration of the UAE National Day 2021. Each of the four NFT stamps got a distinct design centered on the UAE national theme.
