Luxury automobile manufacturer Lamborghini is launching an NFT collection that’s out of this world. The initiative is a set of digital space keys. Five digital artwork NFTs have been made by a yet-to-be-disclosed artist.

The Italian marque Lamborghini is renowned for its supercars such as the Huracán and Aventador. Still, now it wants to expand into the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) with the Lamborghini Space Key.

Developed in collaboration with a yet-undisclosed artist, the Lamborghini Space Key is a piece of advanced carbon fiber sent to the International Space Station in 2019. Once it landed back on Earth, Lamborghini tested the carbon fiber composite before making it a part of this special key.

Speaking on the composite and subsequent NFT, Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, said: “Innovation is a deeply rooted part of the Lamborghini DNA. As a leading company for carbon fiber composite materials within the automotive sector, we pushed boundaries two and a half years ago with the joint research project in space. Now entering the metaverse is again proof of Lamborghini always setting sail for new horizons. The NFT world has been calling to us, and we are excited about engaging with this very passionate and innovative community.”

Lamborghini’s Space Key is made of 3D-printed carbon fiber and is limited to just five editions, with each unlocking an exclusive digital artwork NFT made by the unknown artist, accessed via the QR code on the backside of the key.

Working with NFT PRO™, Lamborghini will soon disclose the name of the artist of the key and artworks before explaining the meaning behind the Space Key and how you can get your hands on it at auction. All of this information will be found on Lamborghini’s Instagram imminently.

Lamborghini isn’t the first wrld-known luxury sports car manufacturer to join the NFT craze. Last summer, Porsche revealed its plans to join the innovative digital economy. The company has backed startup Fanzone launched to issue NFTs sports cards to collect and trade.
